SMS Messaging — How Members Opt In

Last updated: August 28, 2026

Summary

MyTrainerOS provides software that gyms and personal trainers use to run their businesses. Members of those businesses can choose to receive text messages about their own training — appointment reminders, check-ins from their trainer, and a request for a review after a session.

Text messaging is entirely optional. It is never required to create an account, to book a session, or to use any part of the product. Members who do not opt in receive no text messages at all.

Messages are sent from the toll-free number +1 (866) 541-3238.

How a member opts in — a two-step, confirmed opt-in

Consent is collected in two steps. A phone number alone is never treated as consent; the member must confirm from the handset that owns the number.

  1. The member opens SMS Preferences in their own account, under Settings. This page is reached only after signing in, and is never presented during registration.
  2. The member enters their mobile number. Adjacent to that field, before any consent is given, this disclosure is displayed — business name, message type, frequency, rates, and the HELP/STOP instructions:
[business name] sends SMS for session reminders, account updates, and important notices. Message frequency varies — typically 2–5 messages per week. Message and data rates may apply. Reply HELP for help, STOP to unsubscribe at any time.

Directly below it, links to the Terms of Service and Privacy Policy, and the statement that we do not sell personal information.

  3. The member ticks the consent checkbox. It loads blank and unchecked; the member must actively select it:
Yes, I agree to receive the SMS messages described above from [business name] at the number I entered. Required to sign up.

The checkbox is the consent, not the button. Consent is never implied by submitting the form — the submit control stays disabled until this box is ticked.

  4. The member taps “Yes, sign me up!” The call-to-action states plainly what the action does, and performs no other function.
  5. We send one confirmation text to that number, and nothing else:
[business name]: Confirm SMS sign-up. Reply YES to opt in. Code: 481920. Msg & data rates may apply. Reply STOP to opt out. Expires in 24h.
  6. The member replies YES from that handset. This is the step that completes enrollment — it proves both consent and ownership of the number. The confirmation expires after 24 hours if unanswered.

Only after step 4 is any further message permitted. If the member never replies, no further message is ever sent.

Promotional messages require a second, separate consent

The consent above covers transactional messages only — reminders, check-ins, account notices. It does not permit promotional messaging.

On the same screen, below the general consent checkbox, there is a second, independent checkbox — separate selections for separate message categories, as the carriers require. It is unchecked by default and the member must actively tick it:

Also send me offers and class promotions from [business name] (optional)

Immediately beneath it:

Optional. Leave this unchecked and you will still get your session reminders and account notices. Reply STOP at any time to stop all messages.

A member who declines this checkbox still receives their reminders. The two consents are stored separately, with the exact wording shown at the time recorded against each, and our messaging system refuses to send a promotional message to anyone who has not granted the second consent.

What we send, and how often

Transactional — covered by the standard opt-in:

  • Appointment reminders before a booked session
  • Check-in prompts sent by the member’s own trainer
  • A request for a review after a completed session

Promotional — sent only with the separate consent above:

  • Offers and class promotions from the member’s gym or trainer

Frequency: typically 2–5 messages per week, driven by how often the member trains. Message and data rates may apply.

Messages are sent under the name of the member’s own gym or trainer, because that is the business the member has a relationship with. MyTrainerOS is the software provider.

How to stop messages

Reply STOP to any message. We also honour STOPALL, UNSUBSCRIBE, CANCEL, QUIT and END. Opting out is processed automatically and takes effect immediately — it does not require contacting anyone.

A single STOP stops everything, promotional and transactional alike. Members can also opt out at any time from the same SMS Preferences screen they used to opt in.

Reply HELP for help. Members can also reach us at support@mytraineros.com.

Your data

We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it for cross-context behavioral advertising. Mobile numbers and opt-in information are never sold, rented, or shared with third parties for their own marketing.
